Wimberley Springs Phase 1 Water Quality and
Detention Pond,
Wimberley, Texas
Loomis Partners was the design engineer for the Wimberley Springs
Phase 1 Regional Water Quality & Detention Pond. This pond was
designed under the TCEQ Edwards Aquifer Contributing Zone rules and
provides water quality and detention to an approximately 104-acre
basin that includes several sections of future residential
development and several golf holes. A wet pond was selected as the
most appropriate BMP for this area because of the size of the
contributing watershed and the anticipated nutrient loadings from
golf course operations (irrigated by treated effluent). This pond's
permanent pool is roughly 4 acre-feet and provides a water quality
volume of approximately 1.6 acre-feet. Detention volume of
approximately 24 acre-feet is provided above the water quality pool
for the 100-year storm event.
