Loomis Engineers Receive LEED Accreditation
July
2009
Faris Abboushi, PE., MBA.,
Andy Hollon, P.E. and Cezary Saxon, E.I.T., recently passed the certification exam to become a LEED Accredited
Professional. The LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental
Design) Green Building Rating System implements
consensus-based standards to foster the employment of
integrated, “green” building design and construction
practices.
LEED is affiliated with
the U.S. Green Building Council
(USGBC),
whose mission is “to transform the way buildings and
communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an
environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and
prosperous environment that improves the quality of
life.”[1]
In addition to accrediting professionals, LEED provides
certification that a
building project meets high performance measures, such as:
-
Lowered operating costs and
increased asset value
-
Reduced waste sent to landfills
-
Conservation of energy and
water
-
Healthier and safer environment
for occupants
-
Reduced harmful greenhouse gas
emissions
Having a LEED Accredited Professional in-house
supports Loomis Partners' commitment to promoting vibrant,
sustainable communities and protecting the environment.
